Gustav Hansen was born in 1974 in Denmark. He is a successful player in poker history known for his aggressive play and private bets on sports challenges like running. Gustav started playing poker, professionally, from 1997 and has the record of the only player to win three World Poker Tour open tournaments. Prior becoming a poker player he was Backgammon player and a youth tennis champion.
In 2006 Gustav won the inaugural European Poker Masters event, the London All Star Challenge and earned $102,000. In 2007, he won Aussie Millions main event which resulted in earning $1,139,010.Gustav Hansen won $1,000,000 in Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament. In April 2008, Gustav stood second in World Poker Tour championship, earning $1,714,800.
Gustav launched a poker community website, ThePlayr.com, in this year. It contains his blog and articles and ‘Gus Tracker’ which tracks where he goes and plays.As of 2008, Gustav’s total poker tournament earnings exceed $7,100,000.
