Humberto Brenes was born in 1951 and learned playing poker at the age of 7. Humberto had industrial engineering degree from University of Costa Rica.
Prior becoming a poker professional he was a professional baccarat, a casino card game and craps tournaments. In one of the craps tournaments he won $300,000. Humberto stated playing poker tournament s regularly from 1988. Humberto has two World Series of Poker bracelets and made three World Poker Tour final tables.
He cashed over 40 times in World Series of Poker. Humberto won 2002 World Poker Open and earned $502,460; He won the Hall of Fame Poker Classic in 2002 and gained $ 35,190. In 2004 World Poker Tour he was the runner-up and won $923,475 as prize money. He nicknamed as ‘The Shark’. He is a member of Team Poker Stars. Other than playing poker he is the owner of restaurants, a nut distribution company, and a construction company.
