Martin de Knijff was born in Gothenburg was named after his father and is nicknamed ‘The knife’ because of cutting down opponent’s chips in tournaments. He started by playing with his grandmother in childhood days and became successful in bridge game when he was 15. Even he was awarded the Bridge Life Master and was youngest to receive it at 21. He also appeared in European poker tournaments but now is rarely featuring there. His skills in poker lies in studying all the opponents prior to the tournament, which is much debated about in poker media.
His glory in poker started in 2001 when he was placed 3rd in Jack Binion’s World Poker Open with a cash of $18,963. But the major break came in 2004 when he won the Five Star World Poker Classic WPT Championship Season 2 and cashed out $2,728,356. In the very next month of this he was 2nd at the 35th Annual World Series of Poker in may,2004 winning $210,100. Since then he has been doing good at several WPT and EPTs (European Poker Tournament). He’s a good sports better and owns a poker club Klubben in Stockholm.
